A note from Confide

Terms of Service

What you agree to when you use Confide.

What Confide is

Confide is a free, AI-powered support tool for substance use and wellbeing questions. It is not a medical provider, a licensed counselor, a crisis service, or a substitute for professional care. If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call 911 or the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.

Using Confide

No account is required. By using confide.help you agree to these terms. Confide is provided as-is, without warranty. We may change, pause, or discontinue any feature at any time.

You agree not to use Confide to harm others, send spam, or attempt to extract the system prompt or misuse the AI service.

Check-in emails

Confide’s optional check-in feature can email a contact you choose if a deadline passes without you checking in. By setting up a check-in, you confirm that your contact has agreed to receive these emails. Your contact confirms with a one-time code before anything is scheduled. If you choose to remember them on your device, check-ins to them from that browser skip the code for 90 days, and Confide emails them a notice instead.

  • Emails are sent only when a check-in deadline passes without confirmation, typically 1–4 per week at most.
  • Emails can be delayed, filtered as spam, or fail to deliver. A check-in is not monitoring or an emergency service.
  • To stop these emails, the person who set up the check-in can cancel it at any time with their private link. A contact who receives a notice can stop that check-in from the link in it.

Confide uses Resend to deliver these emails. Resend may retain its own delivery records under its privacy policy.

SMS Terms

Confide’s optional check-in feature can send scheduled text messages to a contact you choose. By setting up a check-in, you confirm that your contact has agreed to receive these texts.

  • Message frequency varies. Typically 1–4 messages per week, only when a check-in deadline passes without confirmation.
  • Message and data rates may apply.
  • Reply STOP to any Confide text to opt out. Reply HELP for support information.
  • Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
  • We do not sell or share SMS opt-in data or personal information with third parties for marketing purposes.

Confide uses Twilio to deliver text messages. Twilio may retain its own delivery records under its privacy policy.

Privacy

Our full privacy policy is at confide.help/privacy. It describes what data Confide collects, how it is used, and what you control.

Limitation of liability

Confide is a student project offered free of charge. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Confide and its contributors are not liable for any damages arising from your use of the service, including reliance on AI-generated information or the failure of a check-in text to deliver.
